I got tired of sitting at my desk every time Claude Code went on a long run. The agent was already on my computer. I wasn't.
So I built Macchiato: an iPhone (and web) messenger that remote-controls the agents you already run. The agent stays on the machine. You talk to it from your pocket.
Official remotes felt like moving the terminal onto my phone. This is remote control built for talking to an agent — not a TTY in a smaller window.
I also tried a Telegram bot. It felt like stuffing an agent into a chat built for people, and running Claude Code next to Hermes meant two apps.
What it actually does
Macchiato connects to more than one agent. Claude Code, Codex, OpenClaw, Hermes — one app.
You can start a session from the app. The work still runs on your computer. Walk out, open a new thread, it executes on the machine you left running.
Install is one command on that machine. After that you steer from the phone. Hold and talk, it goes into the chat as text.
The agent never leaves your machine. On iOS you can turn E2E on for a new chat. iOS and web today, no Android. You only need iOS 26 and a computer that stays awake. Free.
Why not just Claude Remote / GPT Remote
Those are fine if you only run one vendor. Claude Remote is Claude Code. GPT Remote is Codex. I run more than one, so I was bouncing between apps.
Macchiato is the same remote-control job, for every agent on the box, started from the phone.
If you only use Claude Code and you already like the official remote, stay there.
