I've been working on a VS Code extension called Remote Edit for the past few months.
It began as a way to work with FTP/SFTP from inside VS Code, and over time I kept adding things I was missing.
At this point it can handle remote file browsing/editing, SSH terminals, commands, search, workspace sync, port forwarding, and some multi-server stuff too.
One thing I wanted was to keep everything running locally in VS Code, without needing VS Code Server on the remote machine.
I've spent quite a bit of time recently cleaning up the UI and trying to make everything feel like one tool instead of a bunch of features bolted together.
If anyone wants to check it out:
VS Code Marketplace:

Open VSX:

Curious what people here would actually use, or what you think is still missing.
