Learning Web Development One Project at a Time

Hi everyone!

I'm Jordan, a digital content writer interested in web development, SEO, and the ways people discover and interact with information online.

Most of my experience comes from working with digital content, researching topics, organizing information, and making websites more useful for readers. Over time, I became increasingly interested in the technical side of the web. I wanted to understand not only how content is presented, but also how websites are structured, how different elements work together, and what makes a page easy to use.

Recently, I've been exploring HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern tools that can improve everyday digital workflows. I'm particularly interested in the connection between good content and good web design. A website can contain valuable information, but if the structure is confusing or the page is difficult to navigate, visitors may never find what they need.

One thing I've learned is that there is always more to discover. Even small improvements, such as making headings clearer, simplifying navigation, or improving the readability of a page, can make a meaningful difference. I also enjoy experimenting with tools that help automate repetitive tasks and leave more time for research and creative work.

My current goal is to build a stronger understanding of web technologies through practical projects rather than just reading about them. I want to keep experimenting, make mistakes, figure out why something doesn't work, and gradually develop better solutions.

Outside of web development, I'm interested in music, live performances, and digital media. I think there's an interesting overlap between technology and creative industries, especially when it comes to helping people discover artists, events, and new ideas online.

I'm joining DEV.to to learn from other developers, share what I discover, and take part in discussions about useful tools, practical workflows, and building better websites.

A question for the community: What small project or exercise helped you understand a new web technology when you were starting out?

I'm always happy to hear suggestions. Looking forward to learning with you all!
