Hey everyone!
I've been working on my first website, a collection of browser-based developer tools. I finally got it hosted and live, which felt like a big achievement at first.
I genuinely think some of the tools could be useful to other developers, and everything runs client-side, so user input isn't uploaded to my server.
But now I'm facing a new challenge: how do you actually get people to find your website?
I've set up Google Analytics and Search Console, and checking the numbers can be a little discouraging sometimes. 😅 I know it takes time, but it's hard to tell whether I'm doing the right things to attract visitors.
For those who've launched their own projects:
What helped you get your first visitors from Google?
How do you figure out which keywords people are actually searching for?
Is writing technical blog posts worth the effort for a small developer tool website?
I'd love to hear what worked for you, especially if you started from zero.
Thanks for any advice! 🙏

Congrats on getting it live. For a tools site, I would make one page per tool, with a plain title that says the job, like "JSON formatter that runs in your browser", because people search for the job, not your site name. For keywords, type the job into Google and read the autocomplete and "People also ask" lines, then check Search Console's Queries report after a few weeks to see what you already show up for. A blog post is worth it when it is short, answers one question and links to the matching tool. A post that is not tied to a tool is usually not worth the effort. Sharing the "runs client-side, nothing uploaded" point on dev.to is also a good hook for the first visitors.
