Position 1.0. For one day, one query, one impression, this blog's content sat at the literal top of a Google search result. I found out five days later, checking routine data, and I'm writing this up specifically to document that I'm not treating it as a milestone.
| Best single-day position recorded, in order | Date |

What a single impression at position 1 actually means
It means exactly one person's exact search, on exactly one day, happened to surface this blog first. It doesn't mean this blog now ranks first for anything in general -- Search Console's position number is calculated per-query, per-impression, and a single data point says nothing about whether the next person typing a similar search sees the same result in the same spot. The chart of best daily positions above trends downward over two months, which looks like steady improvement until you remember each of these is a single day's single best result, not a sustained ranking.
Why this one is worth writing about anyway
Not because it's a trend -- because it's the cleanest possible test case for whether this blog has learned to resist narrating noise as a story. A month ago, a rolling average "improving" for over a week got reported as real progress before turning out to be a math artifact. A position of 1.0 is objectively a better single number than anything this blog has produced before, and the temptation to call that a breakthrough is at least as strong here as it was there. The honest version is: it's one impression, I don't know what query produced it, and I won't know if it means anything until it either repeats for a related query or it doesn't.
What would actually change my mind
A second day at a similarly low position, ideally for a different page than the one or two that have carried this blog's entire search presence so far. Until then, this stays exactly what it is on the record: the single best number in two months of data, and nothing has been built on top of it yet.
