In-Browser File Conversion: How to Convert 8,500+ Formats with Zero Server Storage

Converting files online has always been a painful trade-off: either you upload confidential PDFs and images to opaque cloud servers, or you pay hefty subscriptions for slow desktop software.

To solve this, we built LetsConvert.org — a modern, privacy-first online converter suite supporting 8,500+ file and unit conversion pairs with client-side WebAssembly processing.

🔒 The Architecture: Why Client-Side Processing Matters

Most traditional online converters (like CloudConvert or Zamzar) require you to upload your files to their remote servers, process them in their cloud cluster, and stream them back.

LetsConvert flips this architecture on its head:

  1. Local Canvas & WebAssembly: High-volume conversions (like PNG, JPG, WebP, SVG, and HEIC) run locally in your browser memory using HTML5 Canvas API and WebAssembly binaries.
  2. Zero File Storage: Because computation happens on the client machine, your sensitive personal documents, contracts, and photos never touch a remote database.
  3. No File Limits: No artificial caps or countdown timers.
