If you’re looking to publish your first Android app, the first step is setting up your Google Play Console account and creating your app. This guide walks you through how to create an app in Google Play Console and set it up correctly to comply with Google’s policies.
*Step 1: Creating Your App in Google Play Console

Once your Google Play Console account is set up, follow these steps:
1️⃣ Navigate to "All Apps" and Click on "Create App"
Login to your Google Play Console account.
Click on “All Apps” in the left menu.
Click on the “Create App” button.
2️⃣ Enter App Details
You will need to provide the following information:
Fill in the following details when creating your app:
App Name: Enter the name of your app (max 30 characters). This name is displayed in the Google Play Console and can be changed later.
Default Language: Choose from the drop-down list. (For India, the default is English [United States], but you can change it.)
App or Game: Select whether your app is a game or an app. You can modify this later.
Free or Paid: Choose whether your app will be free or paid. ⚠️ Note: Once your app is published, you cannot change this setting!

Step 2: Setting Up Your App
After creating the app, you'll be directed to the Dashboard. Scroll down to find “Set up your app” and click “View Tasks”. You need to complete these steps:
1️⃣ Privacy Policy
A valid and working privacy policy URL must be provided.
This is required to comply with Google’s privacy policies.
2️⃣ App Access
If your app requires login credentials or has restricted access, provide test login details for Google reviewers.
3️⃣ Ads Declaration
Select Yes if your app contains ads.
If it does, ensure it complies with Google’s Ads Policy.
4️⃣ Content Rating
Click "Start Questionnaire" to provide details about app content.
Google assigns a rating based on the answers.
5️⃣ Target Audience and Content
Select your app’s target age group.
Apps targeting children must comply with Google Play’s Family Policy.
6️⃣ News App Declaration
If your app is a news app, it must comply with Google Play News Policy.
7️⃣ COVID-19 Contact Tracing & Status
If your app involves tracking COVID-19 data, only certified national institutions can publish it.
8️⃣ Data Safety
Declare how your app collects, stores, and uses user data.
This information is shown on the Google Play Store listing.
9️⃣ Government Apps
If the app is developed for a government, it must meet additional compliance requirements.
🔟 Financial Features
If your app involves payments, banking, loans, or financial services, it must comply with financial regulations.

If your app is related to health & wellness, it must comply with Google’s Health Policy.
If not, select "Not a health app."
