Seedance 2.x now costs 2 credits per output second on the standard route at 480P ($0.02) and 3 credits on the ultra-wide route at the same setting. The route, not the model, decides both the moderation path and the price: at 1080P on Seedance 2.5 it is 21 credits against 45.

People searching for "Seedance real faces" usually want one of two things: whether a photograph of a real person can condition the shot, and what a "wide" or "unrestricted" route costs. Those are different questions, and the answers have moved down sharply.

The two routes, in one table

Standard route Ultra-wide route
Best fit low-cost everyday generation real-face references and broader moderation
Real-face references supported supported, with a wider review path
Settings and quote per route per route, shown before submit
Price, 2.0 Mini 480P 2 credits / s 3 credits / s
Price, 2.5 720P 12 credits / s 18 credits / s
Subscription Starter or higher Starter or higher
Output stays in your library yes yes

Both routes need an active Starter subscription or higher — the credit balance alone does not unlock them. Within the generator the route is a field, and the selected route is saved with the job, so a re-run does not silently switch lanes.

The full price list, standard versus ultra-wide

Credits per output second, text-to-video and image-to-video with no reference video:

Route 480P 720P 1080P 4K
Seedance 2.0 Mini 2 3 — —
Seedance 2.0 Mini · ultra-wide 3 6 — —
Seedance 2.0 Fast 3 6 — —
Seedance 2.0 Fast · ultra-wide 5 10 — —
Seedance 2.0 4 9 20 39
Seedance 2.0 · ultra-wide 6 13 29 —
Seedance 2.5 5 12 21 —
Seedance 2.5 · ultra-wide 8 18 45 —

A reference video adds an input-duration charge on top of the output seconds. The ultra-wide premium on a shared resolution is 1.5× at 480P, 2.0× at 720P and 2.1× at 1080P.

What a second costs in dollars

Credits are the unit; the price of a credit depends on the plan. The settlement value is $0.01, and higher tiers buy credits more cheaply inside the same billing cycle:

Plan Price per credit 5 cr/s (2.5 · 480P) 12 cr/s (2.5 · 720P) 18 cr/s (2.5 wide · 720P)
Settlement value $0.0100 $0.050 $0.120 $0.180
Pro, monthly $0.00997 $0.050 $0.120 $0.179
Max-L, monthly $0.00828 $0.041 $0.099 $0.149
Max-L, yearly $0.00662 $0.033 $0.079 $0.119

Which is where the "$0.08 per second" figure comes from: it is Seedance 2.5 at 720P on the top plan — and, separately, the ultra-wide 480P lane at settlement value (8 credits × $0.01). Neither is the price of a 1080P wide clip, which is $0.45 a second at settlement.

Real faces: what actually works

  1. One clean reference per person. A frontal, evenly lit photograph. Two competing photos of the same face average into a third person.
  2. Give the reference a job. "The bride from @Image1" beats "use the reference" — it tells the model which decision that image owns.
  3. State what must not change, then what should. Identity, wardrobe and framing first; camera, light and environment second.
  4. Prefer the route that matches the brief, not the one that sounds permissive. If the reference passes on the standard route, use it — you are not buying safety with the premium, only a different review path.

When ultra-wide is the wrong purchase

  • You want a cheaper clip. Standard is cheaper at every shared resolution.
  • You want a different model. It is still Seedance; only the moderation path differs.
  • You think "wide" means no rules. It is a broader path, not an unlimited one. The same acceptable-use policy applies and a request can still be refused.
  • You are still exploring. A five-second 480P test on 2.0 Mini is 10 credits on standard and 15 on ultra-wide; promote to the wide route when the brief needs it.

FAQ

Does the standard route accept real faces? Yes — both routes accept real-face references; ultra-wide adds a broader moderation path.

Can I use either route without a subscription? No. Both Seedance 2.x routes require an active Starter or higher; credit packs add balance but do not unlock the route.

Is 2.5 wide 1080P really 45 credits a second? Yes at settlement that is $0.45/s — the most expensive lane in the table, and the one to avoid for exploration.

Do older Seedance price tables still apply? No. Earlier rates were substantially higher; use the quote in the generator, which is the number charged.

The two routes, their settings and six worked real-face examples are on Callirra's Seedance wide-limit page; you can run either from the video generator, and the current per-second rates are on the credit-cost table. If you have a brief that only passes on one route, the prompt and the route name are what make the comparison useful.

The 2.1x premium at 1080P on 2.5 (21 vs 45) is the number people should see before choosing the 'unrestricted' route; the moderation difference isn't free.

Separating 'can a real face condition the shot' from 'what does the wide route cost' is exactly right — those get conflated constantly.

The Starter subscription prerequisite is easy to miss: credit balance alone doesn't unlock either route. That's a gotcha worth pinning.

The route being a saved field rather than a toggle is the detail that matters — a re-run not silently switching lanes is a real safety property.
