In one podcast, I heard an interesting thought. I didn't remember how it exactly sounded, but the main idea was that if you want to grow, you should use opportunities. Because opportunities are the material from which success grows. It works as fuel for us to move forward and motivates us to reach our goals.
For example, you have the ordinary task of implementing a network layer in an application. I can do it as usual, with a well-known library, or try to do it with another approach that can bring some benefits. I agree, it is very often that management does not agree with that, but you can try to implement this and show or prepare a result of a research how it will be profitable. Yes, it requires more energy, but you get the opportunity.
On the other side, many opportunities surrounded us, we just don't recognize them. For instance, someone should be a speaker for a weekly meeting, someone takes on a complex task or investigates a bug that is present in the backlog, etc.
So, don't miss opportunities, especially if they are related to your goals.
