If you want to find the right answer, you need to ask the right question and most importantly know how to ask it! for most people this is the most difficult thing to do, Asking the right question without beating around the bush. You have to point straight at what you want. To get the correct answer you will need a good 'search engine' Am pretty sure we all understand what a search engine is, but for the new ones I will try to explain,
According to Oxford a search engine is a program that searches for and identifies items in a database that correspond to keywords or characters specified by the user, used especially for finding particular sites on the World Wide Web.
Yap you read it right items that correspond to keywords, now we have different types of search engine like:
- Yahoo and many more...
Our main focus for this article is GOOGLE and how to master and use it like a pro you are:
What is Google? it is is an internet search engine. It uses a proprietary algorithm that's designed to retrieve and order search results to provide the most relevant and dependable sources of data possible.
Lets have a look at some tricks to change how you use it:
1) Use a Keyword
"related:" to find similar website.
If you were to search anything related to YouTube it would look something like below showing all related sites to YouTube.
2) Use the Keyword
"search:" to search within a website.
Let's say you wanted to find something related to web development on Hashnode this is how to use
search: keyword to get right answers:
3) Use the Keyword
"..." to search within a time frame
If I wanted to know more about Android development but not including java related skills I would search it like this,
android development -java
5) Have forgotten a word? Use the keyword
"*" to replace missing words.
6) Looking for a definition of a word, Use the keyword
"define:" to find a definition.
There you have it, 7-Google search tricks to make you a Google search master.
