Nevada Layoffs 2026: WARN Numbers Explained

Nevada's 2026 WARN record is small in volume but concentrated in impact. Through early October, the Layoff Atlas registry holds 12 WARN notices reporting 1,896 affected workers in Nevada for 2026 — a single airline filing accounts for more than half of the year's total. As with every number in this article, these are reported plans, not confirmed job losses: a filed notice is an advance warning of a qualifying mass layoff or closure, not proof that every listed worker was let go.

The headline numbers

Nevada's full imported archive contains 616 non-cancelled WARN notices reporting 182,698 workers affected across all years — but most of that is the pandemic-era hospitality collapse. In 2020 alone, Nevada recorded 369 notices and 144,800 reported workers, by far the heaviest year in the archive.

More recent years tell a quieter story:

  • 2026: 12 notices · 1,896 reported workers
  • 2025: 30 notices · 5,759 reported workers
  • 2024: 44 notices · 8,546 reported workers
  • 2023: 52 notices · 7,081 reported workers

2026 is running well below 2024's pace. One notice currently carries a future effective date, and 6 notices have unavailable worker counts — reported totals exclude those gaps.

Spirit Airlines dominates the 2026 picture

The largest 2026 Nevada filing is Spirit Airlines' 999-worker closure filing covering Las Vegas and Reno, effective May 2, 2026 — more than half of the state's 1,896 reported workers this year. Spirit also appears twice more in the recent record: 393 workers in a late-2025 layoff filing and 32 workers effective January 1, 2026.

Other notable 2026 filings: Primadonna (Primm) — 344 workers, closure, effective July 4, 2026; SK Food Group (Reno) — 209 workers, layoff, effective April 30, 2026; iHerb (Las Vegas) — 113 workers, closure, effective May 1, 2026; Turnkey One Source (Las Vegas) — 79; Boulder City Hospital — 70; Saks (Las Vegas) — 70, closure. Late-2025 also saw Las Vegas nightlife closures: Drai's Management Group (344), Drai's After Hours (7), and Carlos'n Charlie's (79).

A big caveat: no recent official filings

In the last 365 days, Nevada has zero eligible official filings in the registry; the newest official notice date is May 1, 2025. The full Nevada archive contains 3 direct government records against 613 attributed secondary records — essentially all recent Nevada data comes from the secondary WARN feed, not from Nevada's own labor agency publications. Coverage is limited to connected sources and imported date ranges; missing source coverage is not zero layoffs.

No mini-WARN law in Nevada

Nevada has no state-level mini-WARN law, so the federal WARN Act thresholds apply: generally, employers with 100 or more full-time employees must give 60 days' notice before a qualifying plant closing or mass layoff. Layoffs below those thresholds never trigger a filing and never appear in the data.

What to watch

With only 12 notices so far in 2026, Nevada is not showing a broad layoff wave. What it is showing is concentration: one struggling airline, a handful of hospitality closures, and quiet everywhere else.
