The Problem
You're a Chinese seller on Amazon. Your product is great. Your factory is reliable. Your pricing is competitive.
But your listing is written in "Chinglish" — and everyone can tell.
I've worked with dozens of Chinese Amazon sellers, and the #1 issue is always the same: the listing sounds translated, not written. It doesn't build trust. It doesn't convert. It doesn't rank.
Here's the framework I use to fix that.
The 5-Step Localization Framework
Step 1: Keyword Research (Chinese → English)
Most sellers copy keywords from competitors. Bad idea. Instead:
- Start with your Chinese keywords (you know your product)
- Translate them literally
- Then ask: "Would an American customer type this?"
Example: 真无线蓝牙耳机 → "True wireless Bluetooth earphones" → ✅ "Wireless earbuds"
Use Amazon's autocomplete, competitor review analysis, and backend search term tools to find what real customers search for.
Step 2: Title Architecture
A winning Amazon title has 3 layers:
[Brand/Product Name] - [Key Features/Benefits] | [Use Cases & Target Audience]
Bad (translated):
Portable wireless BT 5.0 earphone sports running noise reduction
Good (localized):
Wireless Bluetooth Earbuds - 40H Battery, IPX5 Waterproof, Premium Sound | Ideal for Sports, Workout, Travel & Daily Commute
The difference? The second one sounds like a human wrote it.
Step 3: Bullet Points That Sell, Not Describe
Chinese product descriptions tend to list features. English buyers want benefits.
Feature: "Noise cancelling technology"
Benefit: "Block out noisy subways, chatty coworkers, and crying babies — focus on your music, not your surroundings"
Framework:
[Pain point] → [Feature that solves it] → [Emotional outcome]
Step 4: Product Description (Storytelling)
Your A+ content or product description shouldn't list specs. It should tell a story.
Write like you're talking to a friend who's skeptical:
- Why this product exists
- What problem it solves
- What happens after they buy it
- Social proof (reviews, stats, usage count)
Step 5: Backend Search Terms
Amazon gives you a hidden field for search keywords. Most Chinese sellers either:
- Fill it with random keywords (waste)
- Leave it blank (bigger waste)
Best practice: Include synonyms, misspellings, regional variations, and related terms that wouldn't fit naturally in your title/bullets.
The Data: What Happens After Localization
From real client projects:
| Before | After |
|---|---|
| 15-20% conversion rate on listing | 25-35% conversion rate |
| $20-30 ACOS | $10-18 ACOS |
| Page 3-4 search ranking | Page 1-2 within 4 weeks |
| 2-3 sales/day | 8-15 sales/day |
These numbers are real. One of my clients doubled their monthly revenue just from listing rewrite + keyword optimization.
Why AI Alone Doesn't Cut It
I build my own AI tools for listing optimization. But here's the truth:
AI is great for structure, but terrible for cultural nuance.
An LLM can generate a "good" English listing. But it can't tell you:
- That "durable" sounds generic in the US market
- That UK buyers prefer "robust" over "heavy-duty"
- That German buyers want technical specs, not emotional appeals
- Length expectations differ by market
- Emoji usage differs by market
That's why my service combines AI generation + human-level cultural judgment.
