says the charge was approved. Two seconds later it is reversed, and the merchant sees a decline. This is the failure mode most developers hit when paying a Chinese API provider from outside China, and it is not a bug in the provider's checkout.
What is actually happening: the card network flags the merchant category, and the issuer's fraud engine kills the authorisation after the fact. Recurring cross-border charges make it worse. Your card is not broken; the route is.
Two things that work: a rail the issuer does not flag (PayPal is one, because the charge rides their account instead of your bank's), or a prepaid balance funded by a rail that settles differently. A prepaid balance also removes the silent renewal failure, which is the other way this bites people mid-project.
I run a gateway for DeepSeek models that takes PayPal and USDT and gives you an OpenAI-compatible key. Take that with the usual salt. The card pattern above is the part worth knowing, whichever provider you end up on.
