You deployed your app. It works. It lives at my-saas-app-git-main-k4r2z.vercel.app.
Now you want it on a real domain with HTTPS. The usual process: buy a domain, configure DNS records, set up SSL, wait for propagation, debug why it is not resolving. That takes 30 minutes to an hour if you know what you are doing.
Here is how DomainDock does it.
What DomainDock does
DomainDock sits between your domain (or a free subdomain) and your deployment. It handles:
- Domain routing — point any domain or subdomain at any deployment URL
- Automatic HTTPS — SSL certificates are provisioned and renewed automatically
-
No DNS configuration — for free subdomains on
digitalweb.host, there is nothing to configure
You give it a deployment URL. It gives you a clean domain with HTTPS. That is the entire product.
The walkthrough
Step 1: Go to digitalweb.host
Open digitalweb.host in your browser. No account required to start.
Step 2: Pick a subdomain
Choose a subdomain on digitalweb.host. For example: myapp.digitalweb.host.
This is free. You are not buying a domain. You are claiming a subdomain on a shared domain that DomainDock manages.
Step 3: Enter your deployment URL
Paste the URL where your app is currently deployed. This can be:
- A Vercel deployment:
my-app.vercel.app - A Render service:
my-app.onrender.com - A Railway deployment:
my-app.up.railway.app - A Netlify site:
my-app.netlify.app - Any publicly accessible URL
DomainDock does not host your app. It routes traffic from your clean domain to wherever your app already lives.
Step 4: Done
Your subdomain is live. HTTPS is automatic. No certificate to install, no DNS records to configure, no propagation to wait for.
Visit https://myapp.digitalweb.host and your app loads with a valid SSL certificate.
Using your own domain
If you own a domain (or want to buy one), DomainDock supports that too:
- Add your domain in the DomainDock dashboard
- Point your domain's DNS to DomainDock's nameservers (your registrar's DNS settings page — the only DNS step)
- DomainDock provisions an SSL certificate automatically
- Your domain routes to your deployment URL with full HTTPS
The DNS step adds a few minutes for propagation, but DomainDock handles the certificate and routing automatically. No Certbot, no Let's Encrypt commands, no renewal cron jobs.
For details on the DNS setup, check the DomainDock docs.
What this replaces
Without DomainDock, setting up a custom domain with HTTPS typically involves:
- Buy a domain — 5 minutes at a registrar ($10–15/year)
- Configure DNS — Add A records or CNAME records pointing to your hosting provider. Look up the correct values. 10 minutes if you have done it before.
- Wait for DNS propagation — Anywhere from 5 minutes to 24 hours
- Set up SSL — Either configure your hosting platform's SSL, install Certbot, or set up Cloudflare. 10–30 minutes depending on the method.
- Verify everything works — Check that HTTPS loads, that redirects are correct, that the certificate covers the right domains. 5 minutes.
- Set up renewal — Make sure your SSL certificate renews automatically. Certbot handles this if configured correctly, but you need to verify it works. 5 minutes.
Total: 35 minutes to several hours, assuming no debugging.
With a DomainDock free subdomain, steps 1 through 6 are replaced by "pick a subdomain and paste your deployment URL."
When to use this
Free subdomain (digitalweb.host):
- Side projects you want to share with a clean URL
- Portfolio pieces for job applications
- Demos and prototypes for client presentations
- Hackathon projects that need a shareable link
- Internal tools that do not need a branded domain
Your own domain:
- Production apps that need a branded URL
- SaaS products with custom domains
- Any project where
digitalweb.hostis not the right branding
Limitations
DomainDock is a routing and SSL layer, not a hosting provider:
- Your app must already be deployed somewhere with a publicly accessible URL
- DomainDock does not provide compute, storage, or databases
- Free subdomains are on
digitalweb.host— you cannot choose the parent domain - For custom domains, you still need to own the domain and update DNS once
If you need hosting, use Vercel, Render, Railway, or any other platform. DomainDock handles the domain and SSL part.
The point
Domain setup and SSL should not be a project. You should not spend 30 minutes configuring DNS records and debugging certificate issues for a side project you built in a weekend.
DomainDock makes domain routing invisible. Pick a URL, paste your deployment, and ship.
DomainDock gives every project a professional URL with automatic HTTPS — no DNS to configure, no certificates to manage, no propagation to wait for. Free subdomains on digitalweb.host, or bring your own domain. Set up your custom domain in under 30 seconds.
