12 week year. It's full of brilliant and inspiring instructions to help you consistently put efforts towards your goals. I've been using the system for 9 months already, and it helps.
“Greatness in the Moment: As I wrote in Chapter 10, greatness is not achieved when a great result is reached, but long before that, when an individual makes the choice to do what is necessary to become great. The results are not the attainment of greatness, but simply confirmation of it. You become great long before the results show it. It happens in an instant, the moment you choose to do the things you need to do to be great, and each moment that you continue to choose to do those things.”
Essencialism, by Greg McKeown. It's a great book with useful tips on living with meaning, and that could be applied to every aspect in your life. I really like how reasonable every tip is, it's not some crazy coach book you find easily.
I just completed Confessions of an economic hitman by John Perkins. One of the biggest takeaways I had was on having the courage to do the right thing no matter how difficult it may. It emboldens one to look past their flaws and tap into their conscious to do what is right.
Here's how he signed off
However, this book is not a prescription; it is a confession, pure and simple. It is the confession of a man who allowed himself to become a pawn, an economic hit man; a man who bought into a corrupt system because it offered so many perks, and because buying in was easy to justify; a man who knew better but who could always find excuses for his own greed, for exploiting desperate people and pillaging the planet; a man who took full advantage of the fact that he was born into one of the wealthiest societies history has ever known, and who also could pity himself because his parents were not at the top of the pyramid; a man who listened to his teachers, read the textbooks on economic development, and then followed the example of other men and women who legitimatize every action that promotes global empire...
Masters of Doom, it's a fun, insightful, and inspiring read about the creators of Doom and Quake.
My favorite quote:
"In the information age, the barriers just aren’t there. The barriers are self-imposed. If you want to set off and go develop some grand new thing, you don’t need millions of dollars of capitalization. You need enough pizza and Diet Coke to stick in your refrigerator, a cheap PC to work on, and the dedication to go through with it. We slept on floors. We waded across rivers."
-John Carmack, Masters of Doom
"Non-violent communication" by Marshall Rosenberg.
I really like the ideas it presents. It's in line with what I imagine would be a better world, but it's also very practical instead of being purely wishful thinking.
Ideas I would have liked to learn about earlier in my life instead of buying/being raised into this whole hyper-competitive "I'm better than you because..." kind of bullshit.
Power of habit. This was the starting point for me get out of some very strong and old habits and actually see almost everything in a new perspective with respect to self-development.

Really awesome book. Confessions of an economic hitman is similar, though the whistleblowing is from an economist's side as opposed to a technologist from Snowden. Give it a shot whenever you get the time. 🙂
Deep Work by Cal Newport! Just re-read this book. It honestly changed my life. It is not a book about how to work, but really how to live a happy fulfilled life. Wondering if others have read it?

wow, thanks for sharing. I hope other people can come across such wisdom, I certainly hope it'll help me as I struggle with consistency quite a lot.

Thanks for sharing that Gem. I'll definitely get to it. The author's website is appealing haha. So that's already scored him points.
