Every week I found myself pasting text into random online tools — counting words for an essay, converting case for a title, removing duplicate lines from a list. Every one of those sites wanted my text on their server, and half of them wanted an account too.
So I built Loona Text Tools: 22 small text utilities that run 100% in the browser. Your text never leaves your device. No sign-up, no uploads, no tracking of what you paste.

What's inside
- Word Counter & Character Counter — words, characters, sentences, paragraphs, reading time, and SMS segment counting
- Case Converter — UPPER, lower, Title Case, Sentence case, aLtErNaTiNg and more
- Remove Duplicate Lines — with options to keep order, trim and ignore empty lines
- Sort Lines — alphabetical, natural (handles numbers correctly), by length, shuffle
- Find and Replace — with live match counts
- Text Compare — a real diff view (longest-common-subsequence based) that highlights what changed
- Word Frequency — find your most-used words and phrases
- Slug Generator — clean URL slugs from any title
- Password Generator — crypto-grade randomness (Web Crypto API), with an entropy estimate in bits
- Text to Speech & Speech to Text — using the Web Speech API
- Roman Urdu to Urdu — converts Roman Urdu text into Urdu script with a ~350-word built-in dictionary (this one is personal — I teach in Pakistan, and teachers asked for it)
- Online Notepad — auto-saves to your browser's local storage
- Plus: reverse text, remove extra spaces, remove line breaks, add line numbers, lorem ipsum, Morse code, text ⇄ binary, and a fancy text generator
How it's built
One static site. Each tool is a single HTML page with vanilla JavaScript — no framework, no build step, no backend. Pages are generated from templates so every tool gets the same treatment: the tool itself, a "how it works" section with a worked example, and FAQs.
A few implementation notes from building it:
- Natural sort matters more than you'd think — "Item 2" should come before "Item 10", and users notice when it doesn't.
-
Emoji-safe reversing needs grapheme-aware splitting, not
split(''), or you corrupt surrogate pairs. - Password entropy is shown in bits so users can judge strength themselves instead of trusting a coloured bar.
- Every tool was tested with automated checks against its core logic before publishing — 167 assertions in total, including the full Roman Urdu example sentence converting exactly as expected.
Why free and client-side?
Text is personal. Lesson plans, essays, business lists, drafts — none of that should be uploaded to a stranger's server just to count words. Client-side tools are also fast (no round trips), cheap to run (static hosting), and they work offline once loaded.
If you try it and a tool is missing, tell me — the list grows based on what people actually ask for.
