Game Development Resources

I began my Game Development journey back in 2017 and since then I've adopted a few favourites when it comes to level design resources.

So if you're looking into getting into Game Development but are getting put off by your cheap looking environments look no further! Here are a couple sites that will help ease the workload...

Poly Haven (https://polyhaven.com/)

Poly Haven is my goto website when it comes to PBR textures and/or HDRI textures. They are constantly creating more high-quality textures either through scans or using software such as Substance Designer.
I've been using this site for years and it has never disappointed me.

AmbientCG (https://ambientcg.com/)

AmbientCG is my backup for Poly Haven, but this does not mean it should be given any less praise. AmbientCG's searching system really helps you to find exactly what texture you're looking for.

Sketchfab (https://sketchfab.com/)

Recently acquired by Epic Games, Sketchfab is possibly the best site for free 3d assets. It's live preview lets you examine a model, including its seperate textures and vertex count. It's all so user friendly and should be in every Game Dev's toolkit.

Zapsplat (https://www.zapsplat.com/)

Finally, this site offers high quality audio clips for use in multimedia. However, there is a rate limit on the free plan so I would recommend purchasing the Premium plan as this is 100% worth it.

If anybody has any other services they use that would be useful to new Game Devs please put them in the comments and, to any aspiring Game Devs, good luck!
