Why I Built "I Hate Background" — a Privacy-First Background Removal Service

I always liked the idea of removing an image background in one click.
But I felt something was missing in most of the well-known services:

  • Privacy – many tools upload your image to their servers.
  • Paywall – most limit free images or force subscriptions.
  • Closed tech – no way to build something on top of it.

So I built I Hate Background – a privacy-first, AI-first tool that runs directly in your browser.
Nothing is uploaded. Your image never leaves your computer.
And it’s totally free to use on the website.

If you’re a developer and want to integrate background removal in your product, there’s also an API (paid, powered by NVIDIA GPUs) for production-level needs: I Hate Background – Rapid API

Why I’m posting here

I’m looking for honest feedback from developers and designers:

  • Does the site feel fast and simple?
  • Is the UX clear?
  • Would you use it for quick edits or in your workflow?
  • What could be improved (performance, docs, features)?
