Make AI-Written Emails Sound Human: 3 Before and After Examples

Cold emails written by AI often get ignored, and the reason is simple: they sound like every other AI email. Here are three real before-and-after examples, and the small edits that fix them.

Example 1: The cold outreach email

Before (AI draft):

I hope this email finds you well. I am reaching out to introduce our innovative solution that can revolutionize your workflow and drive significant results.

After (human edit):

Hi Sara, I saw your post about spending hours formatting reports. I built a small tool that cuts that down. Would you like a quick demo this week?

What changed: a name, a specific detail from the reader's life, one clear ask, and no buzzwords.

Example 2: The LinkedIn post

Before (AI draft):

In today's fast-paced digital landscape, productivity is more important than ever. Here are three key insights to help you succeed.

After (human edit):

Last month I missed a deadline because I kept switching between tabs. Here is the one habit that fixed it for me.

What changed: it starts with a real moment, and the reader knows what they will get.

Example 3: The follow-up email

Before (AI draft):

I am following up on my previous correspondence regarding the aforementioned proposal. Please let me know at your earliest convenience.

After (human edit):

Hi Ali, just checking if you had a chance to look at the proposal. Happy to answer any questions. Even a quick "not now" helps me plan.

What changed: plain words, a friendly tone, and an easy way for the reader to reply.

A simple 4-step edit routine

  1. Replace the opening line with something specific to the reader.
  2. Delete every buzzword (innovative, revolutionize, leverage, cutting-edge).
  3. Keep one idea and one ask per message.
  4. Read it aloud. If you would not say it to a person, rewrite it.

If you want a second version of a paragraph to compare, a rewriting tool such as RewriteAI can help with phrasing. Always keep your own details and your own voice in the final text.

What is the most robotic phrase you keep seeing in emails? Share it in the comments and I will suggest a fix.
