I’m Building HackerTube, But For Blogs — Lumina

Hey devs,

Quick idea I’m working on, need your honest feedback.

You know HackerTube by Andrej Karpathy?

He took the most discussed videos from Hacker News and put them at one place.

So you don’t need to scroll Hacker News for 2 hours to find one good video.

I thought — Why is there no HackerTube for blogs?

Every day I have to open:
Hacker News → Dev.to → Hashnode → Medium

4 apps. 2 hours. To find 2-3 good blogs.

How it works:

Collect top blogs from Hacker News, Dev.to, Hashnode
Rank them NOT by likes, but by discussion

Show Title + 2-line take + Discussion count + Link to original
Example:
Blog with 200 likes + 5 comments = Boring, low rank
Blog with 50 likes + 120 comments = Hot debate, high rank

We don’t copy full blog. We just show why it’s worth reading, and link to original author. Like HackerTube links to YouTube, we link to original blog.

Why discussion, not likes?

Likes are easy to fake. Discussion means people actually fought, debated, learned something.

If 120 people are arguing in comments, that blog must have something real.

What Lumina is NOT:

Not another Medium clone
Not a place to copy-paste blogs
Not AI-generated summary site
It’s a discovery feed. A place you open at 9 AM with chai, see “Top 10 Most Discussed Blogs Today”, read 2, and start your day smarter.

What I have built so far:

Homepage with blog feed
Write + read blogs on Lumina itself
Discover feed (manual curation for now, auto soon)
What I need from you:

Would you open a site like this every morning to discover blogs?

What’s missing? Should I add filters like “For Beginners / For Advanced / For System Design”?

What’s the biggest loophole? I know one — if original blog gets deleted, link dies. How to fix that?

Drop your honest take in comments. Roast it if needed. I’d rather hear truth on Dev.to than “great work bro” on LinkedIn.
