How I Stopped Falling for Fake Job Postings and Found My Go-To Hiring Platform

Disclaimer: This is not a paid promotion. Just sharing what helped me after too many frustrating experiences.

I’ve been job hunting on and off for the last couple of years, mostly in the tech/remote space. Like many of you, I used to default to the “big three”: LinkedIn, Glassdoor, and Indeed.

And like many of you, I’ve seen a lot of shady stuff — ghost listings, recruiters that never reply, and outright scam jobs asking for crypto or personal documents upfront.

It got to the point where I no longer trusted half the listings I saw. That’s when I started actively looking for smaller, more transparent platforms.

🧠 Lesson #1: Trust Is Earned, Not Assumed

One thing that really stood out was how little verification the big sites do. Sure, they ban listings when people report them, but by then it's too late. I wanted something proactive.

That’s how I stumbled on a platform called Jobicy.

No, it’s not as well-known — but that’s part of why I liked it. The listings were:

  • Clear, well-structured
  • Mostly remote or hybrid roles
  • And — most importantly — manually reviewed for legitimacy

🔍 A Legit Check Service? Yes Please

Jobicy has a tool called Job Checker, where they vet every job manually and give it a “legit” or “scam” score. Completely free.

For someone burned by fake listings before, this was gold. It helped me filter signal from noise fast.

They also publish the data: over 3,000 jobs reviewed, 21% flagged as scams. That’s not a small number.

💼 Bonus: Interview Prep That Doesn’t Suck

Another thing that surprised me: the Interview Prep Hub.

Most “interview prep” resources online are generic and recycled. Jobicy’s prep section breaks down:

  • Role-specific questions (e.g., for SEO, Android, HR, etc.)
  • Example answers
  • Common red flags
  • What not to say

There’s even a guide for AI Prompt Engineers, which I hadn’t seen anywhere else.

🧩 What It’s Missing (for Now)

To be fair: it’s not perfect. Jobicy doesn’t have the volume of listings you’ll find on Indeed. It’s leaner. But I’d trade 100 spammy listings for 10 high-quality, verified ones any day.

✅ My Stack Today

Right now, my job search stack looks like this:

LinkedIn — networking, watching trends
Jobicy — actual legit job applications
Notion — to track applications and prep notes

Not saying Jobicy will replace the giants for everyone. But if you’re burned out on scams and want an actual human-curated platform, check it out.
