Here’s a question.
Imagine you wake up tomorrow, and coding is completely solved.
You tell an AI what you want to build, and it builds it.
99.9% accuracy.
It maintains the code.
It fixes its own bugs.
It handles updates.
It solves problems on its own.
All you have to do is describe what you want.
Would you still learn to code?
Would you still spend hours debugging?
Would you still study data structures and algorithms?
Would you still care about what’s happening under the hood?
Or would you simply move on to the next thing?
Because if all you ever wanted was to write code, maybe AI could replace the part you enjoyed.
But if you wanted to solve problems, build things that matter, understand how systems work, and turn ideas into reality…
Maybe coding was never the destination.
Maybe it was just the tool.
So, let me ask you again:
If AI could do all the coding for you, would you still want to become a software engineer?
And more importantly, WHY?
