Building a Modern Portfolio with Next.js 13, Tailwind CSS, and Framer Motion

Hey everyone! I recently built my portfolio website (4sish.vercel.app) using modern web technologies, and I wanted to share my experience.

Tech Stack:

  • Next.js 13 with App Router
  • TypeScript for type safety
  • Tailwind CSS for styling
  • Framer Motion for animations
  • Geist Font for typography

Key Features:

  1. Dark/Light Mode

    • Smooth theme transitions
    • System preference detection
    • Persistent theme selection
  2. Responsive Design

    • Mobile-first approach
    • Clean, minimal interface
    • Smooth animations
  3. Social Integration

    • GitHub profile
    • LinkedIn connection
    • LeetCode stats
    • Dev.to blog integration
  4. Performance

    • Fast page loads
    • Optimized for mobile
    • SEO friendly

What I Learned:

  1. Next.js App Router is a game-changer for routing and layouts
  2. Framer Motion makes complex animations simple
  3. Tailwind CSS speeds up development significantly
  4. TypeScript catches errors before they happen

Challenges I Faced:

  1. Making the dark mode transition smooth
  2. Ensuring mobile responsiveness
  3. Optimizing animations for performance
  4. Implementing a clean, minimal design

Future Plans:

  1. Adding more blog content
  2. Implementing project filters
  3. Adding more interactive elements
  4. Improving accessibility
