If you run a business in Frisco, Texas, Google and AI tools like ChatGPT need to read your business facts correctly before they can recommend you. The cleanest way to hand them those facts is LocalBusiness schema: a small block of JSON-LD in your page that states your name, address, phone, hours and services in a format machines understand.
This guide gives you a copy-paste template, explains each field, and lists the mistakes that stop schema from working.
What LocalBusiness schema does
Schema does not make you rank by itself. It removes guesswork. Google and AI assistants compare your website, your Google Business Profile and your directory listings. When your site says the same thing in structured form, they trust it more and can quote it with less risk of error.
For a Frisco business the most useful facts to mark up are:
- Business name, phone and website
- Street address in Frisco, TX
- Opening hours
- Services you offer
- The areas you serve, such as Frisco, Plano, McKinney and Prosper
Copy-paste template
Put this in the <head> or just before </body> of your home page or contact page. Replace every value in capitals with your real details.
<script type="application/ld+json">

"@context": "https://schema.org",
"@type": "LocalBusiness",

If you are a dentist, a salon or a restaurant, swap LocalBusiness for the most specific type, such as Dentist, HealthAndBeautyBusiness or Restaurant. A specific type is a stronger signal than the generic one.
Field by field
name, telephone and address. These must match your Google Business Profile exactly: same spelling, same suite number, same phone format. Small differences are the most common reason local data looks unreliable.
openingHoursSpecification. Use 24-hour times. If you close for lunch or have different weekend hours, add one object per block.
areaServed. List only places you really serve. Do not add every city in Dallas-Fort Worth in the hope of ranking there.
sameAs. Link to your real profiles. This helps search engines connect your website to the same business on other platforms.
Add FAQ schema for local questions
A short FAQ on your page, marked up with FAQPage, gives AI tools clean answers to quote. Write questions customers actually ask, for example "Do you serve Plano and McKinney?" or "How do I book an appointment?" Only mark up questions and answers that are visible on the page.
Test before you publish
- Paste your page URL into Google's Rich Results Test.
- Fix any errors or warnings it shows.
- Open the page source and confirm there is only one LocalBusiness block, not duplicates from a plugin and from your theme.
- After publishing, inspect the URL in Google Search Console and request indexing.
Common mistakes
- Marking up reviews you do not show on the page
- Using a fake or virtual address
- Different phone numbers in schema and in the footer
- Leaving placeholder text such as "YOUR STREET ADDRESS" in the live code
- Adding schema once and never updating it when hours or services change
