What are your opinions of the Web Animation API (WAAPI)?

I recently learned Matt Perry the creator of Framer Motion, Popmotion, and Pose is creating another animation library based on the Web Animation API.

Similarly, last year I created @okikio/animate an animation library based on the Web Animation API.

So, I am wondering is there any actual interest in a an animation library that uses the Web Animation API?
