Data Masking vs Data Obfuscation: Hiding Data Is Not Always the Same

Not every piece of sensitive data should be handled the same way.

You may want to hide a customer's credit card number from support staff. Or you may want to make your application's code and internal data harder for attackers to understand.

Both involve making information less visible or harder to understand. But data masking and data obfuscation solve different problems.
