I work on OnePassApps, the team behind app.onepassapps.com. This is a measurement of our own site, taken today over plain HTTPS - no browser, no session, no cookies, no JavaScript.
Our sitemap answers 56 URLs. Twenty-two of them are app pages under /apps/ and twenty-two are guide pages under /guides/, and the two lists carry the same 22 slugs: ambient-noise-mixer, calendar-maker, chart-maker, citation-formatter, cv-builder, email-signature, focus-timer, invoice-maker, label-maker, movie-tracker, newsflow, paperkit, password-generator, qr-code-maker, screen-planner, screen-recorder, signature-maker, social-card, subtitle-workbench, teleprompter, time-zone-planner, word-counter. Every app has a guide twin with the same name. I fetched all 44 pages and compared them pair by pair.
Here is what is the same, what is different, and what it costs in bytes.
The two shared blocks are the same text
On all 22 of 22 pairs, the "What you can do" list is identical - three bullets, the same wording on both pages.
On all 22 of 22 pairs, the app page's "Limitations" section carries the same text as the guide page's "Limits and privacy" section. That block runs from 262 to 385 characters depending on the app.
So on every one of the 22 apps, the two pages ship the same two blocks of copy under different headings.
The app page ships one of the guide's answers
The guide pages carry 67 question-and-answer pairs in total: 21 guides answer three questions each, and one guide - MovieMatcherAI - answers four.
The app page carries exactly one question per app, as its third and last heading, for example "Is Ambient Noise Mixer free, and do I need an account?" for one and "Is MovieMatcherAI free, and does it use credits?" for another. The answer underneath it is the same answer the guide gives.
That is 22 of the guides' 67 answers appearing on the app pages as well. The other 45 live only on the guide pages.
Two element id sets, one id in common
Every app page carries exactly 9 element ids, and they are the same 9 on all 22: onepassapps-structured-data, root, shell-fallback-template, shell-fallback-title, tp-startup-eye, tp-startup-plate, tp-startup-shadow, tp-startup-shell, tp-startup-side.
Every guide page carries exactly 11 element ids, the same 11 on all 22: features, features-heading, guide-content, limits, limits-heading, onepassapps-structured-data, questions, questions-heading, related-heading, steps, steps-heading.
The two sets share exactly one id: onepassapps-structured-data. So the in-page anchors - #features, #steps, #limits, #questions - exist on the guide pages and not on the app pages. The app pages' ids are the startup shell's own, which is what a reader sees before the app boots.
Five headings on a guide, three on an app
All 22 guide pages carry the same five h2 headings: What you can do, How to use this app, Limits and privacy, Common questions, Related guides.
Each app page carries three: What you can do, Limitations, and then its own free-or-account question. Two of the guide's five sections have no counterpart on the app page - "How to use this app" and "Related guides".
The guide pages also carry 4 or 5 h3 headings each, one per question. The app pages carry 0 h3 headings in total.
Meta descriptions: 10 pairs match, 12 do not
On 10 of 22 pairs the app page and its guide twin print the same meta description. On the other 12 they differ: chart-maker, citation-formatter, cv-builder, email-signature, label-maker, movie-tracker, newsflow, paperkit, screen-planner, social-card, subtitle-workbench, teleprompter.
On all 22 app pages the og:description is identical to the meta description, so the two are not being varied on the social side either.
Both pages link to each other
All 22 app pages link to their guide, and all 22 guide pages link back to their app. The pairing is explicit in both directions on every pair.
Credits: the same two exceptions on both sides
The sentence "never uses OnePassApps credits" appears on 20 of the 22 app pages and on 20 of the 22 guide pages. The two that do not carry it are the same two on both sides: movie-tracker and newsflow. Those two run on our servers for your account and use credits from your plan's recurring allowance.
The size of the difference
The 22 app pages run from 19,094 to 19,542 bytes, 424,910 bytes in total.
The 22 guide pages run from 26,582 to 32,435 bytes, 639,558 bytes in total.
Every guide twin is the bigger of the pair, by between 7,488 and 13,083 bytes. Across all 22 pairs that is 214,648 extra bytes.
Our guide side was measured separately before, in 22 Guides, One Template. This post is the app side of the same comparison.
What I did not measure
One build, one GET per URL, 8 November 2026, plain HTTPS from one network. No browser, no session, no cookies, no JavaScript, so nothing here says what the pages look like once the app runs. No app was opened and no export was produced. The byte counts are a snapshot of one build, and the copy comparison is text-level - the same words, not the same HTML.
