I Built an AI Tool That Tells You Exactly What's Wrong With Your Mix (and How to Fix It)

Last month, I uploaded my mix to three different analysis tools. One said "masking issues detected." Another said "high-mid frequencies elevated." The third said "your mix has problems."

Thanks. I knew that. What I needed was what to do about it.

So I built MixDiagnose — a free tool that analyzes your track and tells you things like:

"2-6 kHz is 8.1 dB above highs. Slightly aggressive. Cut 1.5 dB at 4 kHz."

Not "your mix sounds harsh." The actual frequency. The actual dB adjustment. The actual fix.

How It Works

  1. Upload any track (WAV, MP3, FLAC)
  2. Get a 12-metric analysis across 4 categories:
    • Frequency Balance — 6 bands, mud detection, tonal balance
    • Loudness — LUFS, true peak, streaming platform targets
    • Dynamics — crest factor, DR, compression detection
    • Stereo Width — mono compatibility, phase, M/S analysis
  3. Get severity-ranked recommendations with exact parameters
  4. Get a Mix Score (0-100) and letter grade (A-F)

What Makes It Different

Most mix analysis tools tell you what is wrong. MixDiagnose tells you how to fix it.

Issue Other Tools Say MixDiagnose Says
Muddy mix "Low-mid buildup detected" "250-500 Hz is 15.3 dB above midrange. Cut 2-3 dB at 350 Hz."
Harsh highs "High frequencies elevated" "2-6 kHz is 8.1 dB above highs. 1.5 dB cut at 4 kHz."
Quiet mix "Loudness below target" "LUFS at -25.1 — 11.1 dB below target. Add bus compressor: threshold -22 dB, ratio 3:1, makeup ~5.0 dB."
Narrow stereo "Stereo width issues" "Width 0.073. M/S EQ: boost side +1.5-2.5 dB at 4-8 kHz."

The Mix Score

Every analysis gets a 0-100 score and letter grade:

  • A (85+) — Pro quality. Ready for release.
  • B (70-84) — Solid mix. Minor tweaks needed.
  • C (55-69) — Decent. Several issues to address.
  • D (40-54) — Needs work. Multiple critical issues.
  • F (<40) — Major problems. Start with the Critical fixes.

You can track your score over time as you apply the recommendations and re-upload.

I'm Oren, the founder. I built this because I was tired of tools that tell you something's wrong without telling you how to fix it. If you have feedback, I'd love to hear it — mixdiagnose@gmail.com
