TIEFGANG is a fast roguelite FPS set in 1887. You dive into the deep in a heavy brass diving suit and fight your way through drowned temples, sunken archives and ship wrecks. It's made with Godot 4, playable solo or in co-op for up to four players, and there's a free test build.
What makes it different
- Absurd builds: every run gives you new weapons, charms and elemental blessings. Void and lightning together open black holes, frost shatters, blood heals you.
- Bosses with signature attacks: Xal-Tuun, the Stone High Priest, drags you and your whole team into a shadow otherworld.
- Co-op for 1 to 4 players: every reward is personal, so nobody fights over loot.
- A deep-sea world from 1887: brass, steam, glowing creatures and a submarine as your base.
Built with Godot 4
I'm a solo developer, and TIEFGANG runs on Godot 4.7 (Forward+, Vulkan). A few things I learned along the way:
- Delta updates: storing the game's pck uncompressed in the zip lets the updater download only the changed bytes. Patches shrank from 600 MB to a few MB.
- No stutter on load: the loading screen only lifts once all render pipelines are compiled, and rooms are pre-drawn behind it.
- Effects need weight: a black hole only feels heavy with a FOV kick, a short hit stop and a lens flash on top of the visuals.
I use AI tools heavily in development (code with AI agents, some art started as AI generations), and I review and playtest everything myself. It's disclosed on the itch.io page.

What would make you try a game like this, and what would make you quit after five minutes? I read every comment.
