Introducing Codend V1 — Build, Code, and Publish with AI 🚀

We're excited to announce that Codend V1 is officially live!

Codend is an AI-powered development workspace built by Anythic, designed to help developers and creators turn their ideas into working websites and applications.

Why we built Codend

Building software often involves switching between code editors, AI assistants, development environments, and deployment platforms.

We wanted to bring these workflows together in one place.

With Codend, users can describe what they want to build, let an AI agent work on their project, inspect the code, preview the application, and publish it.

What's included in V1?

  • AI Coding Agents: Generate, modify, and debug code using natural language.
  • Multiple AI Models: Choose models suited to different development tasks.
  • Live Code Editor: Review and edit your project's source code.
  • Live Preview: See your application while developing it.
  • One-Click Publishing: Deploy generated websites directly from your workspace.
  • Image Generation: Create visual assets using AI.
  • Integrations: Connect services such as Supabase.
  • Automations: Build AI-assisted workflows.

Behind the scenes

Building Codend involved solving several engineering challenges, including AI agent orchestration, secure code execution, real-time previews, deployment workflows, and usage-based billing.

We've focused on making these systems work together reliably, so developers can spend less time managing infrastructure and more time building.

One important improvement was introducing automatic sandbox idle management and safeguards for resource usage.

Codend V1 is just the beginning, and we're continuing to improve the platform based on developer feedback.

What's next?

Codend V1 is only the beginning.

We're planning improvements to design intelligence, developer experience, integrations, and AI-powered workflows.

We'd love your feedback!

Codend is now publicly available, and there's a free plan to get started.

We're especially interested in feedback about the AI agent, editor, and publishing experience.

What feature would make an AI development workspace genuinely useful for you?
