Many small and mid size units in India still tape every box by hand. It works until order volume grows, and then packing becomes the slowest step before dispatch. Here is a short checklist we share with owners who are thinking about their first carton sealing machine.
1. Count your boxes
Note how many cartons you seal on a normal day and on your busiest day. If one or two people spend most of their shift taping, a machine will usually pay back quickly.
2. List your box sizes
Write down the length, width and height of every carton you use. If one or two sizes cover most orders, a semi automatic sealer with adjustable guides is enough.
3. Check tape width
Most units use 48 mm BOPP tape. Heavier boxes may need 72 mm. Make sure the machine supports the tape you already buy.
4. Plan the floor space
A basic sealer needs room for the machine plus a table or roller conveyor on each side, so boxes can be fed in and taken out without lifting.
5. Think about power and service
Most semi automatic sealers run on normal single phase power. Ask about spare belts and cutter blades before you buy, since those are the parts that wear.
The result
Boxes come out square, with straight tape and the same seal every time. Packing staff can move to picking and checking instead of taping.
