If you pack goods in corrugated boxes every day, hand taping is usually the first bottleneck. A carton sealing machine fixes that, but there are two common types, and picking the wrong one wastes money.
Semi automatic (fixed size) carton sealer
You set the width and height guides once for a box size. The operator folds the top flaps and pushes the box in. Belts carry it through and tape is applied to the top and bottom in one pass.
Good fit when:
- Most of your boxes are the same size
- You run one product per shift
- You want the lowest cost per machine
Random carton sealer
The machine senses each box and adjusts its width and height on its own. Boxes of different sizes can come one after another with no manual change-over.
Good fit when:
- You ship mixed orders (e-commerce, 3PL, distributors)
- Box sizes change many times a day
- You want to connect the sealer to a conveyor line
A simple rule
If more than about 80% of your boxes share one size, start with a semi automatic sealer. If sizes change all day, the random sealer pays for itself in saved change-over time.
