Beyond the Startup Craze: Encouraging Deeper Reflection and Meaningful Innovation Among Today's Youth

In today's world, the only craze among young people interested in technology is to start a startup and call themselves "founders" in society. Today’s youth, whether they have just graduated from college or are still in college, often do not realize the major problems that exist in the world. They attempt to solve small problems they see around them without questioning whether these issues are truly significant enough to warrant starting a business. Instead of focusing on gaining meaningful learning experiences and understanding themselves and the world during this crucial time in their lives, they waste time on fundraising and advertising.

Yes, we agree that startups initiated by young people can certainly bring some positive change to human life, increasing productivity and saving time. But the problem arises when talented youth, who could have brought about deep, positive change in the lives of humans and nature, get caught up in trends, the temptation to earn money at a young age, the desire for social recognition, and the craze of becoming a "founder." As a result, they waste the prime years of their youth solving superficial problems, which could have been spent on self-reflection, understanding the world, and deeply exploring topics of interest.

So, the question arises: what should today's talented youth do if they truly wish to bring about a deep, positive impact on human life?

The simple answer is self-reflection, self-awareness, understanding the world, identifying its major problems, and deeply studying areas of interest, just as scientists do, and then attempting to solve those problems.

Examples:

1.Thomas Edison – Inventor of the light bulb: Edison’s invention of the practical incandescent light bulb in 1879 revolutionized how people live and work.

2.Alexander Graham Bell – Inventor of the telephone: Bell's invention in 1876 enabled long-distance voice communication.

3.Nikola Tesla – Inventor of the AC induction motor, which uses electromagnetic induction to generate mechanical power.

I emphasize self-reflection and self-awareness because, through these, individuals can solve the questions that arise within their minds and, in turn, better understand the outside world. Otherwise, due to pollution, global warming, and the increasing greed for consumption among humans, our existence is in danger. Yet many influential individuals advocate for having more and more children. This is why, in today's era, it is essential for both talented individuals and those with self-awareness to coexist.

If you truly want to bring about positive change in the world, help people, make a big impact, and live a life full of freedom, it is essential to observe the work you wish to do with impartiality. It is crucial to assess its truth by removing personal gain or intention. You need to ask whether the work can genuinely create a positive impact. Not only should the work benefit humanity, but it must also not harm nature. In this world, continual self-examination of our every action and moving closer to the truth is our real progress. That is what is called freedom.

Remember, it is far more important to spend time thinking about what you need to work on, rather than just working for the sake of money and power, which may give you hollow respect in society but not true freedom. And freedom should be the greatest and ultimate goal for every human being.

The Nobel Prize, awarded for revolutionary inventions, goes to those who have conducted in-depth studies and discovered keys to human development, not to those who have created flashy startups and raised millions of dollars.

So, if you truly want to make a difference in the world, focus on creating inventions rather than becoming a startup founder, as these inventions can serve as the foundation for many startups.

Example: Nobel Prize Winners 2024 in Physics - John J. Hopfield and Geoffrey E. Hinton: Recognized for foundational discoveries and inventions that enable machine learning with artificial neural networks. Their work has been pivotal in advancing AI technologies, allowing machines to recognize patterns in large datasets.

In conclusion, there is nothing wrong with finding problems and starting a startup to solve them in the early stages of your knowledge. This can be done if you want to quickly gain recognition in society, are driven by the power of money, etc. However, when you dive deeper into these matters, you may realize that there was nothing substantial in it; in the end, the impact you create will matter most. Therefore, if you truly want to make a deep, positive impact on humanity and nature, you must understand the world, comprehend its questions and problems, delve deeply into them, and gain self-awareness.

Remember, Isaac Newton and Albert Einstein were not only great scientists but also great philosophers.
