I Built a Marketplace That Lets High School Students Talk to Real College Students Before Choosing a University

One of the biggest decisions a student makes is choosing a college.

Ironically, most students base that decision on marketing materials, rankings, campus tours, or Reddit threads.

I thought there should be a better way.

So I built Campii — a platform where prospective students can connect directly with verified college students for honest, one-on-one conversations about what college is actually like.

Why?

University websites show the best version of campus.

Current students tell you:

  • What professors are actually like
  • How difficult classes are
  • Whether the dorms are worth it
  • Campus culture
  • Greek life
  • Clubs and organizations
  • Internship opportunities
  • Social life
  • What they wish they knew before enrolling

Those conversations can save students thousands of dollars and years of regret.

Building Campii

Campii is designed to make finding the right student guide simple.

Students can:

  • Search by university
  • Browse verified college students
  • View profiles and expertise
  • Book one-on-one conversations
  • Get personalized advice before making a life-changing decision

The Goal

Education should be transparent.

Instead of relying on brochures or anonymous forum posts, students deserve access to real people who have lived the experience.

That's exactly what Campii aims to provide.

I'd love feedback from the DEV community—especially on building marketplaces, trust systems, and growing an education startup.
