Building a Side Income Selling AI Developer Tools on Gumroad (Month 2 Update: $382)

Two months ago, I launched my first digital product on Gumroad - a credit optimization tool for Manus AI users. Here's the transparent update with real numbers.

Publishing SEO-optimized articles drives consistent organic traffic. My top-performing articles:

  • "Manus AI Review 2026" - 2,400+ views
  • "How to Get More Credits" - 1,800+ views
  • "5 Mistakes Wasting Credits" - 1,200+ views

3. Affiliate Program (30% commission)

Setting up a 30% affiliate commission attracted early promoters. Even small affiliates sending 2-3 sales/month add up.

4. Free Lead Magnet

The "Credit Optimizer Lite" free download captures emails and converts ~15% to paid within 30 days.

What's NOT Working

  • Newsletter outreach: Sent to 5 major AI newsletters, zero responses
  • YouTuber outreach: Contacted 8 creators, zero responses
  • Reddit organic: Posts get engagement but low direct conversions
  • Twitter/X: Haven't cracked the algorithm yet

Key Lessons

  1. Bundle > Individual products - Always offer a bundle
  2. Content compounds - Articles from month 1 still drive sales in month 2
  3. Conversion rate matters more than traffic - 12.9% CVR means I need less traffic
  4. Invest in distribution - The $200 newsletter ad is a bet on reaching the right audience
