Digital Sovereignty for Africa: Why Governments Must Prioritize Sovereign Clouds and Zero Trust

Overview

I am excited to share my latest article published on Quotients Africa, where I dive deep into why African governments must transition from being digital tenants to digital landlords🏛️💻.

Data is the "new oil,"🛢️ yet much of the continent's data sits in foreign vaults. This isn't just a tech issue, it’s an economic and national security imperative. In the piece, I explore:

👉Digital Capital Flight: How offshoring data drains billions from Africa’s GDP.
👉Zero Trust Architecture: Why "never trust, always verify" is the only way to protect national wealth.
👉Efficiency & Transparency: Using sovereign clouds to fix tax-to-GDP ratios and eliminate bureaucratic waste.
👉Sustainability: Building a green, localized digital backbone for the continent.

National wealth must be protected by national infrastructure. We cannot claim full sovereignty if we do not control the digital vaults of our citizen🔓.
