We keep a comparison page for Claude Code vs Tabnine. We re-checked it this month and the honest version is: it isn't really a comparison anymore.
What actually changed:
- Tabnine is closed to new signups since 30 July 2026. Tricentis acquired Tabnine that same day; tabnine.com now redirects to tricentis.com, there's no public pricing page, and no self-serve signup. Existing customers keep support. A developer evaluating tools today simply cannot start a Tabnine account.
- Claude Code's pricing hasn't moved. Pro is still $20/mo, Max 5x is $100/mo, Max 20x is $200/mo — verified against Anthropic's own pricing page this month.
So what's the real question now?
Not "which is better" — it's "what do I use instead if I already had Tabnine." For most readers that answer is Claude Code, not because it won a feature fight against Tabnine's on-prem/self-hosted model (it didn't; Tabnine still had real advantages there — autocomplete quality, custom model training, air-gapped deployment), but because it's the one of the two you can still sign up for.
We still keep the page up, dimension-by-dimension table included, because "what happened to it and what do I use instead" is a real, searched question, and because readers evaluating self-hosted/privacy-focused alternatives deserve to know Tabnine specifically isn't one anymore: https://devtoolsreview.com/comparisons/claude-code-vs-tabnine-2026/
