Last week I wrote about the loop: submit your app to the #queue on 42Loop, get 5 upvotes, land on the homepage. Simple rules, visible to everyone.
This week the board started filling up, and the mix is exactly what I hoped for. Boring-useful business software next to weird little web experiments. Here are five apps that earned the homepage.
1. Light Studio: a Lightroom alternative that keeps everything on your computer
Light Studio opens your Lightroom catalogs in place, develops RAW photos, and runs its AI features (denoise, masking, photo search) locally. Nothing leaves your machine. It's $59 once, no subscription, with a free preview tier. This one came from a curator pick and went straight to the top of the board. The "your library stays yours" pitch is doing a lot of work here, and honestly it's the stance more photo software should take.
2. Photon Studio: a vibe-coded Photoshop clone, free
Photon Studio comes from the same builder as Light Studio, and the two are designed to round-trip: send a photo from Light Studio, retouch it in Photon, and it lands back in your library next to the original. Two apps from one maker, both on the homepage the same week. That's the compounding I was hoping the board would create. Ship one thing, your next thing starts with an audience.
3. Sylo: the unglamorous end of the spectrum, in a good way
Sylo unifies POS, inventory, HR, accounting, and operations in one platform with AI-powered insights, plus deep integrations with food delivery aggregators. No clever hook, no meme energy. Just the unsexy software that runs actual businesses. Boards like this tend to over-index on toys, so I'm glad the voting pulled in something boring and real.
4. nudg: paste here, open anywhere
nudg does exactly one job: you paste text, images, or files on one device, it hands you a short code, and you open it on any other device. No account, auto-expiring drops, and on the same Wi-Fi it skips the server entirely and sends straight between your browsers. It's the kind of tiny tool you don't know you need until the tenth time you email yourself a link. Built by one person, free, ad-free.
5. No AI's Sky: a procedural universe in your browser
No AI's Sky is a No Man's Sky-style experiment: a procedurally generated universe (terrain, flora, fauna, cosmos) that runs entirely in the browser. The landing page is in Spanish; the universe itself is universal. This is the "weird little web experiment" slot on the homepage, and every community board needs one.
What these five have in common: none of them won an algorithm. Each cleared 5 upvotes to earn the homepage. Most rallied their own networks; a couple stood out in the queue and got a curator bump from us. That's the whole design. Real people decide what deserves the spotlight, and every voter signs in, so each launch borrows an audience instead of begging one from a feed.
If you shipped something, the board is open: submit to the #queue at 42loop.com, rally 5 upvotes, and you're on the homepage with a "Featured on 42Loop" badge. It's free and the voting is community-driven.
Haven't built anything yet? There's a free course that takes you from zero to a shipped app in under an hour: 42loop.com/firstapp. Then come back and submit it. Small, weird, hyper-personal apps are the point.
