Breaking into Systems Administration/Network Administration

I have been trying to get into systems administration/network administration for the past year. A lot of places advertising for a 1 position (Network administrator 1 or Systems Administrator 1) are requiring at least 2 years of experience. I have a bachelor's degree in Computer Science.

I have applied to multiple jobs and have yet to even get an interview because of my "lack of minimum qualifications." In my first job, that I was at for about a year and a half, I helped a lot with network troubleshooting and monitoring as well as a lot of security tasking, like vulnerability scanning, etc. But my main position title was "Computer Science Specialist" and nothing to do with systems or network administration.

I'm just not sure how to stand out and get an interview so I can at least have a shot. I have a lot more knowledge in the area than my experience lets on. I have been studying for certifications (CCNA, Network+, etc.) and hope to get those soon. I'm sure that will help, but there are rarely openings in my area.

I am hoping someone out there has some tips that will help me. I've learned that this is really my passion and I want to get started in the field as soon as I can. My next steps are to get an associate's degree in Cybersecurity and Computer Networks, but I won't have the time to start that program for at least a year.
