4: A "real" programming language?

After the somewhat demoralising experience of my 'byte-sized' CS50 attempt, those subsequent courses in the fundamentals gave me back some confidence in my ability to overcome the initially daunting challenge of learning to code. Moving on to learning the command line and git, and then finally building an actual website (as the culmination of yet another codecademy course), my confidence and determination reached historic highs. I felt like the time was right to sample something a bit more hearty; to start learning a 'real' programming language.
