DeFi Smart Contract Vulnerabilities Audit Guide

Here are three of the most common and critical DeFi smart contract vulnerabilities, along with specific methods and tools used to detect them.

1. Reentrancy Vulnerability

Description:

Reentrance occurs when a contract calls an external contract (e.g., sending ETH) before updating its own internal state (e.g., balance). An attacker can exploit this by calling the vulnerable function again within the external call, repeatedly draining funds before the state is updated.

Specific Detection Methods:

  • Static Analysis with Slither: Run slither . on your Solidity code. Slither has a built-in detector for reentrancy that flags functions where an external call (call, send, transfer) occurs before a state variable is modified. Example output: Reentrancy on state variable contract.Balance.balanceOf[msg.sender]
  • Control-Flow Graph (CFG) Analysis: Manually
