Gemini Just Became a Document Editor

Google's Oct 29 update lets Gemini generate, preview, and edit PDFs, Docs, Sheets, slides, Markdown, TXT, and code — right inside the chat. Expand a file to full screen, type edits directly, highlight text to ask for rewrites, then export to PDF or Drive.

Catches: PDF editing works on web and mobile, but everything else is web-only for now. And there's no version history, comments, or sharing in the chat preview — it's a drafting bench, not a Docs replacement.

Still, this kills the download-edit-reupload round trip where AI assistants lose real work. For anyone living in chat windows, it's the Gemini update that changes habits.
