I Built a Tool to Control My Phone from My Laptop (Without Internet)
We use multiple devices every day — phone, laptop, sometimes even tablets.
But surprisingly, they still don’t work together as smoothly as they should.
I ran into a small but frustrating problem.
The Problem
I’d be working on my laptop, fully focused.
My phone would be connected to a speaker, playing music.
Then someone from another room would call me —
and I wouldn’t hear anything.
Getting up just to lower the volume felt annoying.
Breaking focus felt worse.
I looked for solutions, but most tools:
- relied on cloud syncing
- were heavy or complicated
- didn’t solve this exact use case
So I decided to build something simple.
The Solution: Synco
I built Synco, a lightweight tool that connects your phone and laptop directly.
With Synco, you can:
- Control phone volume from your laptop
- Mirror notifications in real time
- Handle incoming calls without touching your phone
What Makes It Different
Most syncing tools try to do everything.
Synco focuses on doing a few things really well.
- Local-first → works over Wi-Fi or Bluetooth
- No cloud required → better privacy
- Lightweight → fast and simple to use
No accounts, no tracking, no unnecessary complexity.
Why I Built It
This started as a personal problem.
But I realized many people face small issues like this every day.
These “small problems” break focus, reduce productivity, and create friction.
Synco is my attempt to fix one of them.
What’s Next
Right now, Synco is still in an early stage.
I’m actively improving it based on feedback.
Future ideas include:
- better device automation
- more control features
- smoother pairing experience
