It has been one day since I joined DEV, and honestly, I already regret spending my free time here.
The site is flooded with AI-generated posts packed with empty jargon [1000 words article that can be a comment]. This is especially ironic considering how seriously the community guidelines talk about AI use. Every other post feels like the same recycled ideas, written in the same polished, lifeless style.
I am sure there are original and genuinely useful posts here. The problem is that they are buried beneath so much low-effort content that finding them feels like work. After spending a day scrolling through this site, I somehow feel less informed than when I joined.
My parting words:
Please stop building things simply because AI made it possible, then posting about them as if you have created something the world desperately needs.
Stop. Take a breath. Ask yourself:
Does this solve an actual problem?
Does anyone need it? [most probably the answer is NO]
Did I learn something worth sharing? [NO, unless you made and debugged the app]
Can I explain it clearly in my own words?
And if you cannot even write your repository’s README yourself, why should anyone spend their time understanding the project, contributing to it, or giving it a star?
Building something is easier than ever. That does not automatically make what you built useful, interesting, or worth announcing.
Maybe I expected too much, but after only one day, I am severely disappointed with this site.
