🎮 I'm a Young Developer Trying to Build Games — I'd Love Your Ideas & Advice!

Hey everyone! 👋

I'm a young developer who has been getting into game development, and I'm really excited to see where I can take it.

Right now, I'm experimenting with building my own browser games using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. My goal isn't just to make something that works — I want to eventually create games that people actually want to play, come back to, and share with their friends.

One of the projects I've been working on is a browser-based FPS game. I'm experimenting with things like:

  • 🔫 Different weapons
  • 🎯 Shooting and hit detection
  • 🤖 Enemy bots
  • 🗺️ Maps and obstacles
  • 🏃 Player movement
  • ⚔️ Special abilities
  • 💥 Damage and headshots
  • 🎮 Keyboard and mouse controls
  • 🌐 Eventually turning it into part of a gaming website

I'm still learning a LOT, though.

Sometimes I'll spend a ridiculous amount of time trying to fix something that seems like it should be simple. 😭 Other times, I'll make something work and immediately think, "Wait... I actually made that."

That's probably my favorite part of programming.

💡 I Want Your Ideas

This is where I'd love some help from the Dev community.

What would you want to see in a browser game?

It could be anything:

  • A cool game mechanic
  • A weapon idea
  • A unique game mode
  • A map concept
  • A way to make bots feel more realistic
  • A progression system
  • A multiplayer idea
  • A completely different type of game
  • Something you've always wanted to see in a game

Even weird ideas are welcome. Sometimes the weird ones are the best. 😂

🧑‍💻 I Also Want to Learn

If you're an experienced developer or game developer, I'd really appreciate advice.

What are some things you wish you knew when you were starting?

What programming concepts should I focus on?

Are there mistakes beginners commonly make that I should avoid?

And if you've built games before, what helped you improve the most?

I'm not expecting people to build the game for me. I want to learn how to do it myself — but having advice from people who have already gone through the process would be awesome.

🚀 Where I Want to Go

Eventually, I'd love to have my own gaming website with multiple games that I've created.

I know that's a big goal, especially while I'm still learning, but that's part of what makes it exciting.

I'm starting small, learning as I go, breaking things, fixing them, and hopefully getting better with every project.

If you're interested in following along, feel free to follow me here on DEV. I'll be sharing updates, things I learn, problems I run into, and hopefully some finished games along the way.

And if you have an idea, piece of advice, or just want to say hi, drop a comment! 👇

I'd love to hear from other developers, gamers, and anyone who has an idea for something I could build.

Thanks for reading, and happy coding! 🎮💻
