Seeking UI/UX Feedback for INCH-in-cm-umrechner.de – Improving Usability & User Retention

I would really appreciate your feedback on my project INCH-in-cm-umrechner.de. I’m currently trying to take this tool to the next level, and I feel like something is still missing—especially in terms of user retention, usability, and overall UX/UI clarity, even though the core functionality is already fully developed.

The website is a unit conversion tool focused primarily on inch-to-cm conversions and related measurement utilities. From a technical standpoint, the system works correctly, input handling is stable, and calculations are accurate. However, I believe that functional correctness alone is not enough to make a tool truly useful in today’s competitive web environment.

What I’m struggling with right now is understanding what improvements would actually increase engagement, usability, and repeat usage, especially for mobile users where most traffic tends to come from.

UI/UX Feedback Needed

I would like to get your suggestions on the following areas:

User Interface clarity: Is the current layout intuitive enough for first-time users?
Mobile responsiveness: Does the tool feel optimized for small screens, or does it require too much scrolling or interaction?
Input flow efficiency: Is the conversion process fast enough, or should it be reduced to fewer steps?
Visual hierarchy: Are the most important elements (input, result, units) clearly prioritized?
Accessibility: Would the tool benefit from improvements like better contrast, font scaling, or ARIA support?

Usability & Feature Gaps

Even though I have implemented the core converter functionality, I feel the platform is still missing something that encourages users to stay longer or return again. Some areas I am considering improving include:

Adding multi-unit conversion support (feet, mm, meters, etc.)
Introducing instant conversion without page reloads (fully reactive UI)
Adding conversion history or saved results,

Implementing a smart suggestion system for commonly used conversions
Improving input validation and error handling UX
Possibly adding a dark mode for better mobile usability
Retention Problem

The biggest challenge I’m currently facing is user retention. People visit, use the converter once, and leave immediately. I want to understand:

What makes a conversion tool “sticky” enough for repeat visits?
What features would make users bookmark or reuse this site?
What is missing on the homepage that users expect but don’t immediately see?

Homepage Feedback (Most Important)

I specifically want feedback on the homepage:

Is it clear what the tool does within 3–5 seconds?

Does it immediately provide value, or is there cognitive friction?
What elements are missing that would improve first impression trust and usability?
Final Thoughts

I have focused heavily on building a functional and accurate tool, but now I want to shift toward product-level thinking—UX, retention, and user psychology.

If you have any suggestions—whether it’s UI improvements, feature additions, or even complete restructuring ideas—I would really appreciate your insights.

What would you change if this was your project?
