NotiSift Early Access: An On-Device Android App That Scores Every Notification and Silences the Noise

A privacy-first notification filter for Android that learns what matters to you — without sending a single byte of your data to the cloud.

NotiSift is an Android app now in early access (closed testing) that scores every notification you receive from 0–100 based on priority, context, and your own habits, then silences the low-priority ones during focus sessions. All scoring and learning happens entirely on-device — no account, no cloud processing, no internet permission required for the core feature.

The problem: your phone interrupts you for things that don't matter

The average Android phone pushes dozens of notifications a day — delivery updates, promotional banners, app re-engagement nudges, and the occasional message that actually matters, all delivered with equal urgency. Most "focus mode" tools solve this with a blunt instrument: mute everything, or mute nothing. Neither reflects how differently you treat a text from your partner versus a "your order has shipped" push.

NotiSift was built to solve that specific gap — and it's now open for early access testing.

What is NotiSift?

NotiSift is an Android app that intercepts every notification on your device, scores it in real time, and decides whether it deserves your attention right now or can wait. During a focus session, notifications that score below your threshold are held back and quietly bundled into a digest instead of interrupting you.

Unlike cloud-based notification managers, NotiSift does this entirely on-device. There's no account to create, no notification content leaves your phone, and the app doesn't require the internet permission for its core filtering and learning logic — internet access is used only for the optional ad-supported free tier and in-app purchase billing.

How NotiSift's scoring actually works

Every notification passes through three independent scorers, which are blended into a single 0–100 priority score:

  • Heuristic Scorer — rule-based signals: notification category, system priority, urgency/promo/OTP text patterns, channel behavior, and time-of-day (notifications get stricter treatment late at night).
  • Learned Scorer — tracks your own open/dismiss behavior per app over time and adjusts accordingly. A messaging app you always open quickly will naturally score higher than a shopping app you usually dismiss.
  • Keyword Scorer — lets you define always-show, always-suppress, boost, or reduce rules for specific keywords or senders.

Notifications below your threshold during a focus session are suppressed and rolled into a digest notification every few hours — so nothing is lost, it's just deferred to a moment you choose.

Why on-device matters

Most "smart" notification tools either require a cloud backend to do the scoring, or skip the learning step entirely and rely on static rules. NotiSift's entire pipeline — interception, scoring, learning, and storage — runs locally:

  • The notification database is encrypted at rest (SQLCipher), with a device-bound passphrase.
  • Learning data (what you open vs. dismiss) never leaves your device.
  • No sign-up, no login, no analytics pipeline watching what notifications you get.

If you've been looking for a digital wellbeing or focus mode tool that doesn't quietly trade your notification content for "smart" features, this is built specifically for that trade-off.

Key features at a glance

  • Priority scoring (0–100) for every notification, blending rules + learned habits
  • Focus schedules — define time windows where only high-priority notifications get through
  • Digest notifications — suppressed notifications are summarized, not deleted
  • Custom app rules — always-show, always-suppress, and (Pro) keyword boost/reduce
  • Learning insights — see how your own usage patterns are shaping what gets through
  • Free tier, with an optional one-time lifetime Pro unlock (no subscription)

Early access is open now

NotiSift is currently in closed testing on Google Play ahead of a full public launch. Early access testers get the app before anyone else, shape the scoring behavior with direct feedback, and help catch rough edges before the wider release.

Requires Android 8.0 or later.

Frequently asked questions

Is NotiSift free?
Yes. NotiSift has a free tier (ad-supported) covering core filtering and focus sessions. A one-time lifetime Pro purchase unlocks keyword boost/reduce rules, unlimited schedules, extended digest history, and weekly stats — there's no subscription.

Does NotiSift send my notifications to a server?
No. Notification content and the on-device learning model never leave your phone. The app's internet permission is used only for ad serving (free tier) and purchase billing, never for notification data.

How is this different from Android's built-in Focus Mode?
Android's native Focus Mode mutes entire apps you select manually. NotiSift scores individual notifications dynamically, learns from your behavior per app, and lets you set a numeric threshold rather than an all-or-nothing switch per app.

What happens to notifications that get suppressed?
They're not deleted — they're held back and delivered later as a digest notification, so you can catch up on your own schedule instead of being interrupted in the moment.

When is the public release?
NotiSift is in closed testing now, with a public Play Store launch planned after the early access period. Early access testers get it first.
