I’m pretty much aligned with both Strauss Zelnick (CEO of Take-Two Interactive) and ThePrimeagen (Twitch/YouTube streamer) on this one.

AI is a huge productivity boost, but it’s not some magical “build the whole thing for me” button.

A conceptual image of a glowing 'BUILD THE WHOLE THING FOR ME' button on a developer's desk.

Where AI really shines when speed matters:

  • generating MVPs
  • prototyping UI fast
  • exploring different ideas without spending a fortune / wasting precious time

That part is real, because it absolutely saves time, it helps you to START instead of just planning the takeoff.
But when it comes to actually building something valuable, AI still can’t replace a CTO or even a Tech Lead.

Do we all agree that a team of developers, left completely unattended, won’t magically produce a great product?

You would still need other people to steer the ship:

  • a business analyst to uncover REAL requirements
  • a PM to keep the team focused
  • a CTO to spot strategic risks before the whole thing from drifting into garbage (did someone say “AI SaaS”?).

That’s why I think AI makes strong people stronger, but it does not remove the need for strong people.
