I'm a high school student and the history mentor at October Humanities Club. I built History Web, a free and open-source interactive history encyclopedia: https://thehistoryweb.org
What it is
A world map you explore by continent, era, region, then topic. There are 249 topics across six continents, each with its own page: a historical image, a short read, and links to reliable sources so you can keep reading.
What's inside
- 249 topic pages covering Africa, Asia, Europe, North America, South America and Oceania, organized across three eras
- A STEM Curriculum section designed around the Grade 10 history syllabus in Egypt's STEM schools
- A download panel that packs selected topics into a ZIP for offline reading
- Light and dark themes, CRT effects, and a few easter eggs
How it's built
Static HTML, CSS and JavaScript. I generate the pages with Eleventy from JSON files, and the site deploys from GitHub to Cloudflare Pages. The code is open source under GPLv3:

How it's doing
The site is approaching 10,000 visits in the last 30 days.
It's already listed and searchable on MERLOT.
I've also submitted it to H-Announce and OER Commons, where it's awaiting review.
Its Product Hunt launch is scheduled for November 1.
Open source today and forever. By a student, for all students.
Try it and tell me what's missing.
