Why I Built an AI-Powered Job Search Engine for Developers

As a software engineer, I’ve spent my fair share of time navigating traditional job portals. And if you've been on the job hunt recently, you probably know the frustration:

You search for a role matching your tech stack, but end up scrolling through irrelevancies—Senior Architect positions asking for 10+ years of experience when you're looking for Mid-level, or listings tagged with "Java" simply because it was mentioned once in a "nice-to-have" section.

I got tired of the noise, phantom listings, and broken keyword filters. So, I decided to build my own solution: Hyre365.

💡 The Problem I Wanted to Solve

Most job boards rely on basic keyword matching. If your resume contains the word "Python" and a job description mentions "Python", the system flags it as a match—regardless of whether you're a Backend Developer or a Data Scientist.

I wanted to build something smarter. My goal was to create a platform that understands context, actual experience, and true tech stack alignment.

🛠️ How I Built Hyre365

To tackle this, I combined modern full-stack development with AI-driven semantic search:

  • Smart CV Analysis: Instead of just scanning for keywords, the system parses the candidate's CV to understand the core technical skills, frameworks, databases, and total professional experience.
  • Semantic Vector Search: I use vector embeddings to represent both developer profiles and job postings. This allows the system to find matches based on conceptual fit rather than word-for-word overlaps.
  • Smart Filtering: To prevent mismatched applications, I implemented a multi-stage pipeline that filters out irrelevant seniority levels, incompatible tech stacks, and duplicate postings.
  • The Tech Stack: I built the platform using Java & Spring Boot for the backend, integrated with vector search capabilities, and a fast, responsive Angular frontend.

🚀 What Makes It Different

  1. Context Over Keywords: The AI evaluates how technologies relate to one another in your actual project experience rather than just counting word occurrences.
  2. Experience Realism: The matching engine cross-references your career timeline against job requirements to make sure you're seeing roles that fit your actual experience.
  3. Fresh, Verified Listings: I aggregate active job feeds directly from ATS providers to minimize expired or phantom postings.
  4. Current Geographic Focus: Hyre365 is currently focused on tech roles across Spain (remote, hybrid, and on-site), with plans to expand to more international markets in the near future.
